Mel Tully – Founder and Head Trainer
I was born with boundless energy, a passion for sport and exercise and a loud voice – all pre-requisites for working in the fitness industry! However fitness wasn’t my first career. Before turning my passion for health into a real job, I spent 10 years in the corporate world working my way through various jobs in the advertising industry. I loved my time in advertising but I always had a dream to work outdoors and give something back to people.
In 2007 my dream became reality after the arrival of my two daughters gave me the opportunity to say goodbye to the corporate world and pursue a new career in health and fitness.
Over the past six years, I have worked with literally hundreds of clients and during that time I have witnessed fitness dreams become a reality time and time again. I’ve seen clients amaze themselves with their own ability to become fitter and healthier than they ever imagined. And that’s why I truly LOVE what I do.
I’ve also learnt a lot about how fitness should be incorporated into people’s lives. It’s become clear to me that getting results isn’t merely about ‘smashing’ people. Sure, you need to work hard to get fitter – there’s no getting away from that – but everyone is different and a one size fits all approach simply isn’t effective.
Before I can develop a fitness programme for a client, I need to understand them inside-out. Not only do I need to know what their health and fitness goals are but I need to understand what their lifestyle is like. Are they stressed? Are they sleep deprived? How much of the day do they spend sitting down? How much ‘me’ time do they give themselves?
It’s this knowledge that enables me to design truly individualised programmes for clients and it’s what keeps them coming back for more.
